Week 1 (August 31, 2021)

Offensive Player of the Week: Rodrigo De Castro, McPherson (Kan.)

Rodrigo had a great start to his senior campaign for the Bulldogs. He helped the team to a pair of wins, including a win over #21 Briar Cliff in the opener. He was credited with the game-winning goal in both games. His first of two goals against Doane on Sunday sparked the Bulldog offense, and led to an offensive explosion for the Bulldogs, leading to a 6-0 rout.

Defensive Player of the Week: Michael Garrihy, Tennessee Wesleyan 

In the two big games this week, Garrihy was superb. In the upset win against #11 Dalton State, his true freshman debut, Garrihy had four saves in the net while posting a shutout. In the double OT draw against #6 the University of the Cumberlands, the goal scored with less than two minutes left in the first half, a deflection off his own defensive player landing at the opponent's feet inside the box was the only goal given up.

Bensend picked up two shutouts on the week, coming up with a huge top-hand save at full extension to preserve a 1-0 victory over Eastern Oregon on Thursday. This week, he averaged three saves per game and has a save percentage of .750 on the 20 shots he as faced this season.

Offensive Player of the Week: Gyorgy Kamaras, Baker (Kan.)

Gyorgy had a strong week for Baker, picking up two goals against Rio Grande (2-1 victory) and one goal against Oklahoma Wesleyan (3-2 win) as the Wildcats defeated No. 24 and No. 2 on the week. In just three games this season, Kamaras now has five goals including the game winner against URG this week.

Norberto was sensational versus CBU (NCAA DII) recording ten saves in BU's 1-0 victory. The junior goalkeeper from San Paulo, Brazil was victorious in his lone game this week between the posts. Bethel was 2-0 on the week - also claiming the victory against Texas A&M Texarkana by a 3-0 score.

Angel Flores scored six goals in the Royals two games this week. Flores scored two, including the OT golden goal to give the Royals the win over (RV) UC Merced, and accomplished a super hat trick (4 goals) against Marymount. Flores ranks second nationally in goals this season (11) and third nationally in points this season (22).

Defensive Player of the Week: Ezekiel Foltz, Northwestern (Iowa) 

In two matches this past week, Foltz guided the (RV) Raiders to a 1-0-1 record and started GPAC play with a 2-0 win over Briar Cliff on Saturday, both being shutouts. In the two matches, the junior keeper notched 16 saves. On Saturday, against Briar Cliff, he had an incredible save on a Charger penalty kick that kept the Chargers off the board and propelled the Raiders to their 2-0 victory.

Offensive Player of the Week: Arturo Bahena, Warner Pacific (Ore.)

Arturo continued his offensive showcase this weekend with 4 goals against Walla Walla, and another 2 goals and an assist against Carroll College. In both games, he had the GW goals to secure another 2-0 conference weekend for WPU. He raised his goal count for the season to 10 with an average of 1.25 goals per game, and jumped four spots to become the conference leader in goals and points.

Defensive Player of the Week: Colton Rothwell, Bethel (Kan.) 

Rothwell earned two clean sheets last week for the Threshers as they would defeat both Avila and Bethany 3-0. Colton would record 8 total saves between the two contests while earning both wins. Rothwell has held steady on the line during the Threshers five-game winning streak and has not allowed a goal in his last 282 minutes.

Offensive Player of the Week: Isaiah Castillo, Friends (Kan.)

Castillo continued his torrid offensive season with five goals and two assists to lead the Friends University Falcons to a pair of dominating victories to extend their unbeaten streak to seven games. Castillo's week was highlighted by his first career four-goal effort in the Falcons' 5-1 victory over Bethel College. He also dished out one assist in the win over the Threshers that put his blazing speed on full display in which he gained possession in the Bethel zone and beat the defense coast-to-coast before handing off to Christian Raffinengo for the goal. The Wichita native then added another goal and assist to help the Falcons to a 5-0 win at Bethany College.

Defensive Player of the Week: Andres Arce, Arizona Christian 

Andres Arce extended his shutout streak to 322 minutes as the Firestorm opened up GSAC play with two wins. First he recorded four saves and the shutout in the GSAC opener against William Jessup. Then he recorded two saves and and the shutout as the Firestorm also beat Menlo to extend their unbeaten run to nine games. Arce's great run of form has led to his GAA dropping to the second best in the GSAC at 0.66.

Offensive Player of the Week: Mohamed Ndaliro, Park (Mo.)

Ndaliro has seven goals on the season with three separate two-goal performances in 2021. Recently two of those games came this past week in the win against No. 10 Baker,5-4, while the other came against William Penn. Ndaliro scored two goals each game and had an assist against Baker as well. His second goal against Baker turned out to be the game-winning goal and his two second half goals allowed Park to tie William Penn 2-2, after going down 2-0 in the first half. In the two games, he had nine shots with four shots on goal.

Daulby scored 2 goals both of which were game-winners (including the win over No. 19 Reinhardt)

Franco Acerbi led the defense to a Sun Conference Regular Season championship crown with the upset shutout victory of #5 Keiser. The senior keeper had four saves, with many cross and corner kick punch outs and catches to deny the Seahawks of any offense attempts. This is Acerbi's fifth shutout of the season.
