2024 NAIA Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week - No. 9 (April 23)

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Hunter McCarty of Concordia (Mich.) has been named the NAIA Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, and CJ Besuzzi of Benedictine (Kan.) has been named the NAIA Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week. The duo was selected based on their performances from April 15-21 and were chosen out of a pool of conference/Continental Athletic Conference (Independents)/unaffiliated group nominees. 

Players of the Week are announced weekly throughout the regular season on Tuesdays on naia.org, Instagram, and Twitter.

NAIA Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week

Hunter McCarty, Concordia (Mich.) - SR - Attacker

  • McCarty led the Cardinals in goals, assists, and points; helping them to a 24-11 senior day victory.
  • Posting a stat line of seven goals, three assists, and 10 points, he also secured a pair of ground balls.
  • Recorded a shot on goal percentage of 70% (7-of-10).

NAIA Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week

CJ Besuzzi, Benedictine (Kan.) - FR - Goalkeeper

  • Besuzzi had not only a season-high in goal last week but also a career-high in the Ravens victory.
  • Posting a full 60 minutes between the sticks, he tallied 16 saves for a 69.6 save percentage.
  • The upset victory over No. 5 helped Benedictine secure the program's first Heart of America Conference Regular Season Title and top seed in the conference tournament.
