Halterman Named NAIA Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for Second Time in 2025
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Taylor (Ind.) Sophomore Jaynie Halterman broke her own NAIA 6K and program record by 20 seconds at last week's FSU Seminole Invite, earning NAIA Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week, Oct. 1.
Halterman finished fourth in a field of 351 runners, her first collegiate defeat in her young career, just seconds off two runners from LSU, and one second behind Florida State's Rylee Blade. She completed the race in 20:04, nearly two minutes better than the next-closest NAIA competitor, Talia Sullivan, from SCAD Savannah (Ga.).
The Trojans finished seventh, as a team, one point behind Miami (Fla.), and one point in front of Florida International, six spots in front of SCAD Savannah and 13 positions ahead of Ave Maria (Fla.). In all, Taylor was the top NAIA team out of six, in the event.
For Halterman, it's the 2024 defending national champion's second individual honor of the season after also taking the same award Sept. 10, following a win at the IWU Twilight.
Taylor returns to action Friday, Oct. 10, hosting the Ray Bullock Invitational in Upland, Ind. For more on NAIA Women’s Cross Country Runners of the Week throughout the 2025 season, visit NAIA.org.
