YPSILANTI, Mich. – The University of British Columbia led wire-to-wire in the 30th-Annual NAIA Women’s Golf National Championship, at Eagle Crest Golf Club in Ypsilanti, Mich., led by Jessica Ng, who took the individual lead through 36 holes and never let go to claim the individual title.
The Thunderbirds, who claimed their eighth national championship in 2025, matched their tournament-best 288 in Friday’s final round, a number they also shot Wednesday. UBC had a four-stroke lead after 18 holes, Tuesday, and steadily extended that lead through the first three days.
Friday, UBC ran away with the Red Banner.
Ng, who became the second Thunderbird to win medalist at the national championship, and the first since Kylie Barros in 2011, garnered most of the UBC attention through the week. Friday, though, she had the third-best score in a consistent day for the Thunderbirds, who had a 6-under 66 from Una Chou, and an even-par effort from Grace Bell, who nearly came back to earn a spot in the top 10. Ng shot 73 Friday, but had gained enough cushion to hold off Sharon Shan, from SCAD Savannah (Ga.).
Shan finished the championship 2-under and was the 18-hole leader after a tournament-best 7-under 65, Monday. She had battled back to within one stroke after Thursday’s third round, making four birdies, but she was only able to put one circle on the card Friday, as Ng balanced a double bogey and two bogeys with three birdies.
Butpapaporn Sukterm, from Lindsey Wilson (Ky.), was the only other player at even par or better over four days, finishing third. Chou (UBC) was even going to the final hole of the championship, carding her only bogey of the day on 18 to finish Friday 6-under, plus-1 for the tournament.
Keiser (Fla.) overcame Marian (Ind.) to finish second as a team, led by Carolin Alblas, who finished tied for fifth with Marian’s Emma Weiler. Keiser also had top-10 performances from Mohea Mansbendel, who tied for eighth, and Sophia Sindersberger, who finished seventh, individually. Both players shot even par on Friday.
The Seahawks were a stroke better than Marian on Friday and for the tournament, followed by Texas Wesleyan and SCAD Atlanta (Ga.). Both had players in the top 10, as Raeleigh Davidson (Texas Wesleyan) and Holly Lau (SCAD Atlanta) finished seventh, both 8-over par.
During the event, the NAIA named a pair of Character Act Award winners. Hannah Ullibari, from The Master’s (Calif.) and Iona Pollitt, of Tennessee Southern, both earned the award for sportsmanship acts during the week. Both competitors were individual qualifiers.
The NAIA also named its All-Tournament Team, comprised of players who finished in the top 15. The All-Tournament Team includes, in order of finish:
