STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. - The NAIA Bowling Nationals kicked off its first day at 5 Star Lanes in Detroit, Mich., featuring 12 teams from across the nation striving for dominance on the lanes.
After an intense seeding round, SCAD Savannah (Ga.) lead the pack with a total pin count of 5332. In second, with 5179 total pins, was Mount Mercy (Iowa), and Saint Xavier (Ill.) was third with 4963 pin. William Penn (Iowa) rounded out the top four, taking the final first round bye with a total of 4810 total pins.
In the first round of competitive play after seeding, Spring Arbor (Mich.) beat Marian (Ind.), Concordia (Mich.) beat Culver-Stockton (Mo.), and Pikeville (Ky.) took down host Lawrence Tech (Mich.), 4-3. Morningside (Iowa) entered the bracket as the No. 12 seed but earned the only upset, taking down Milligan (Tenn.), 4-3.
The tournament’s next round begins Friday morning, as top-seeded SCAD Savannah meets Spring Arbor, No. 2 Mount Mercy takes on Pikeville, No. 3 Saint Xavier plays Concordia (Mich.), and No. 4 William Penn matches up with Morningside in the final match of the winner’s bracket.
Culver-Stockton, Lawrence Tech, Marian and Milligan will all wait to see who they will play in the loser’s bracket after round two. Round two will start at 8am Friday morning at 5 Star Lanes in Detroit, with live scores on the Official 2025 NAIA Bowling Championship - Google Sheets.
