2022 NAIA Softball Coaches’ Top 25 POSTSEASON Poll (June 8, 2022)
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After earning its 11th NAIA Softball World Series crown last week, Oklahoma City has ascended to the No. 1 spot in the postseason edition of the Top 25. The Stars earned all 18, first-place votes, followed by national championship runner-up Mobile (Ala.). Science & Arts (Okla.) landed in the No. 3-spot while Southeaster vaulted all the way up from 11 to No. 4. Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) rounded-out the top five. Tennessee Wesleyan, behind the incredible pitching performances of Cheyenne Strong, made the biggest jump from the final poll, up 14 spots to No. 9 while Webber International (Fla.) moved to 10 from receiving votes after earning a spot in the 2022 Softball Spring Classic.
Poll Methodology
- The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and the Continental Athletic Conference (Independents).
- The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second-place and so on through the list.
- The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low rating) is removed and the team’s ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appear on.
- Teams that receive only one point on the ballot are not considered “receiving votes”
- The frequency of the polls is bi-weekly. This policy was approved by the National Administrative Council (NAC) prior to the 2016-17 academic season. This change allows raters the opportunity to consider a larger body of work between rating periods.
