Softball - University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma
Emily Cerny of Science & Arts (Okla.)

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 2022 Softball All-America teams as selected by the NAIA-Softball Coaches’ Association All-America Committee. Riley Donovan of Southern Oregon and Emily Cerny of Science & Arts (Okla.) headline the honorees as the National Player of the Year and National Pitcher of the Year.

Donovan ended the season with an impressive .481 batting average and slugged just shy of 1.000 on the year (.973). The senior recorded 88 hits and 89 RBI, which were both tops in the NAIA. The catcher was a first-team all-conference selection in the Cascade Collegiate Conference and was named the CCC Player of the Year. The California native was also ranked No. 1 in the nation in total bases (178) and walks (51). She ended the year ranked in the top 10 in 12 statistical categories.

Cerny ended the year as not only Sooner Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year, but the all-time career strikeout leader in the NAIA with 1,414. The senior finished with a 0.90 ERA and first in the NAIA in shutouts (19), innings pitched (255.1), and strikeouts (388). The Drovers’ hurler finished her career as a three-time NAIA National Pitcher of the Year (2018, 2021, 2022) and a four-time NAIA All-America First-Team selection.

Campbellsville (Ky.) led all teams with four NAIA All-America selections across both teams. Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.), Mobile (Ala.), Oklahoma City and Science & Arts (Okla.) followed with three selections each. All three of Mobile’s selections were to the first team, which led all schools on the top squad.

Columbia (Mo.), Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) and Midland (Neb.) led all schools with two honorable mentions to the All-America teams.
