2016 NAIA Softball All-Americans Announced

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 2016 Softball All-America teams, selected by the NAIA All-America committee. Sophomore Ashli Hafford of St. Gregory’s (Okla.) is named the NAIA Player of the Year and Senior Nicole Nonnemacher of Saint Xavier (Ill.) is honored as the NAIA Pitcher of the Year. The All-America teams are comprised of First Team, Second Team and Honorable Mention selections.
Nonnemacher is the only four-time All-American on the list, as she was a first-team All-American all four years. In addition, Nonnemacher becomes the first individual in NAIA history to win the NAIA Pitcher of the Year accolades in three consecutive years.
Kyndra Holasek of Oklahoma City and Randi Wimpy of Reinhardt (Ga.), are the only three-time All-Americans amongst the 2016 honorees.
Not including that trio of players, there were five other repeat All-American’s.
Hafford finishes her second season for the Cavaliers as the Blanchard, Okla. native ranked in the top 10 in the NAIA in eight offensive categories – No. 2 in runs batted in per game (1.3), No. 2 in slugging percentage (0.932), No. 3 in homeruns (18), No. 4 in homeruns per game (0.3), No. 4 in total runs batted in (74), No. 8 in total bases per game (2.6), No. 9 in batting average (0.480) and No. 10 in total bases (138).
Nonnemacher won the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year for the third-straight season after a 30-4 mark in the circle. The Bloomington, Ill., native compiled 16 shutouts in 39 appearances. She logged 245.1 innings. In NAIA season statistical rankings, Nonnemacher landed No. 2 in opponent batting average (0.121), No. 2 in hits allowed per nine innings (2.8), No. 3 in wins (30), No. 4 in earned run average (ERA) (0.940), No. 4 in total innings pitched (245.1), No. 11 in innings pitched per game (6.2), No. 18 in saves (three), No. 28 in total runs allowed (36). For her career, Nonnemacher has amassed a 102-20 record with an ERA of 1.09. She has recorded 1,369 strikeouts to just 194 walks. She helped the Cougars to a NAIA National Championship Runner-up finish.
Since the Player of the Year award inception in 1998, six players are making their team All-American debut.
