2016 NAIA Softball Players of the Week ? No. 1 (March 22)

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Victoria Decker of Campbellsville (Ky.) has been named the NAIA National Softball Pitcher of the Week and Ariel Roder of Rio Grande (Ohio) has been named the NAIA National Softball Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Decker and Roder were selected based on their performances from March 14 – 20, and were chosen out of a pool of conference, independent and unaffiliated group winners. This is the first NAIA National Softball weekly award.

• Finished week with three wins, including a no-hitter against Brescia (Ky.), 10-0 and two wins against then-No. 2 Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) (12-3 and 7-0).
• Picked up her second save of the season in final game against Lindsey Wilson (4-3).
• Pitched 17.2 innings, striking out 17 batters, while allowing only three runs.
• Ranked No. 8 in NAIA in saves (2).
• Ranked No. 17 in opponent batting average (.26) and No. 18 in wins (9).

• Helped her team to a 5-1 week, with wins against Pikeville (Ky.), Brescia (Ky.) and IU Southeast (Ind.).
• Had 18 at bats, connecting on 13 hits and bringing in seven runs.
• Connected on all three at bats against IU Southeast, bringing in two runs.
• Averaging 3.0 at bats, 2.2 hits and 1.2 runs.
• A batting average of .72 and slugging average of 1.17.
• Ranked 22nd in slugging percentage (.83) and 34th in total bases per game (2.5).
