SIOUX CITY, Iowa – (Box Score) Amanda Trampe’s walk-off home run in the bottom of the eighth handed No. 3 Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) a 2-1 victory over No. 6 Mobile (Ala.) in the first day of the 35th Annual NAIA Softball World Series, presented by Security National Bank and Morningside College. Trampe launched a 1-0 pitch over the left-field fence for her 11th roundtripper of the year.

The Blue Raiders rest until Monday when they face the winner of No. 2 Auburn Montgomery (Ala.) and No. 7 Oregon Tech at 7 p.m. CDT. Mobile drops into the elimination bracket and is scheduled to tangle with No. 10 Dickinson State (N.D.) Saturday at 1 p.m.

Both starting pitchers – Mobile’s Makayla Scott and Lindsey Wilson’s Jordan Hood – were able to pitch their way out of trouble all night long. Scott allowed eight hits and struck out three, while Hood gave up seven hits and fanned four batters. The difference was extra base hits as Scott gave up four extra baggers (three doubles and a home run).

Mobile opened the scoring in the top of the first on a wild pitch by Hood. Taylor Clinkenbeard scored after she led off the inning with a single.

The Blue Raiders tied the score up at 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning. A pair of doubles off the bat of Abbi Goedde and Sydney Fourman were the highlights.

Both teams played superb in the field with a combined zero errors.

Hood held strong in the circle and improved to 17-2 on the season. Scott dropped to 12-4 on the year.

Sydney Fourman was the Lindsey Wilson offensive leader with two hits and a RBI.

The top of the order for Mobile was the strength as Clinkenbeard (2-for-3) and Anna Blake Barnette (3-for-4) combined for five of the team’s seven hits.
