2014 NAIA Softball Players of the Week ? No. 6

Story by Chad Waller, Director of Communications and Sports Information

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Raeven Clark of Oklahoma Baptist has been named the NAIA Softball National Player of the Week and Megan Nonnemacher of Saint Xavier (Ill.) has been selected as the National Pitcher of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Clark and Nonnemacher were selected based on their performances from April 14 – 20 and were chosen out of a pool of conference, independent and unaffiliated group winners.

Clark (pictured top left), a 5-foot-8 freshman catcher from Oklahoma City, Okla., was a big reason for the Lady Bison to capture three Top 25 wins last week. Clark batted .417 (5-for-12) with six RBIs, three runs scored and three extra-base hits. She recorded hits in all four games last week, including a 2-for-3 effort in the 4-3 win over No. 9 Oklahoma City on April 15. Clark knocked out her second home run of the week and 10th of the season in that contest. Overall, she posted a 1.000 slugging percentage.

Clark ranks 27th in the NAIA with 10 home runs.

Nonnemacher (pictured right), a 5-foot-7 senior from Bloomington, Ill., recorded 23 strikeouts in 23 innings of work last week for the Cougars. She notched all three wins in shutout fashion, coming against Purdue North Central (Ind.) on April 17, William Penn (Iowa) on April 18 and Grand View (Iowa) on April 19, to improve to 17-1 on the season in the circle. Nonnemacher allowed just seven hits and two walks and held opponents to a .091 batting average. Her highlight came in the 1-0 blanking of William Penn, where she fanned 10 batters in 10 innings of work. She now has 11 career shutouts.

On the season, Nonnemacher ranks No. 5 in the NAIA in ERA (0.71) and No. 8 in opponent batting average (.160).Megan Nonnemacher
