GULF SHORES, Ala. - Oklahoma City blanked Williams Baptist (Ark.), 5-0, to advance out of Pool C. Earlier in the day, Webber International (Fla.) had its offense wake up late in the 9-6 win over Thomas (Ga.) in the final day of Pool C action at the NAIA Softball National Championship. The event is being held at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex for the second-straight year.

The Stars will play William Carey (Miss.), winner of Pool F, on Monday at 10 a.m. CDT in the double-elimination bracket.

Oklahoma City starter Lily LaVelle proved her stamina with the complete-game four-hitter. She has pitched all 21 innings for the Stars in the national championship and in the process, has struck out 34 batters, allowed 11 hits and just one unearned run.

Today, she did not breeze through the opponents lineup but made the pitches when she needed to. Williams Baptist, appearing in its first national championship, threatened in both the second and third innings. The best chance came in the second as Hallie Horton led off with a single and advanced to second on a Laura Tucker walk. Both runners advanced on a sacrifice with one out. However, LaVelle buckled down and retired the next two batters.

The Stars plated one run in the first on a Kylee Rounsaville RBI-single. Three more runs in the third put the game out of reach. LeeAnn Lopez had the big blow with a two-run double. Joyner, Lopez and Jamie Rateliff each compiled a pair of hits for Oklahoma City.

Horton was the top Eagles hitter with a 2-for-3 effort. Karisa Hendrix was hit with the complete-game loss. She struck out six and allowed five runs (one earned) on seven hits.

Thomas seemed to be headed to a rather easy win until allowing an eight-run, sixth inning. The Night Hawks led 5-1 courtesy of Morgan Howard's two-run single in the fourth inning. Her hit was a part of a four-run, five-hit frame.

However, Webber International knocked around reliever Rachel Ivancic in the sixth. After Thomas added one more run to go up 6-1 in the top of the sixth, the Warriors sent 10 batters to the plate to finalize the come-from-behind victory.

Elizabeth Rodriguez, who scored the innings first run after she walked to led off, cracked a grand slam later in the same frame. She deposited a 1-0 offering to the left-field grass and handed the Warriors the 9-6 lead. Ashlee Quigley preserved the win by sitting down three of the four Thomas batters in the seventh.

Dana Roloff earned the win to move to 7-5 on the year for Webber International. Quigley went three innings of relief as she allowed three runs on seven hits. On the offensive side, four different Warriors finished with a pair of hits.

Brianna Dworak led all hitters with a 4-for-4 effort at the plate and she scored a run. Howard went 2-for-4 with 3 RBI.
