Oregon Tech Continues Hot Streak, Wipes Out Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) 8-0 in Pool Play

GULF SHORES, Ala. – (Box Score) Oregon Tech needed just five innings to eliminate Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) 8-0 in pool play action at the 2011 NAIA Softball National Championship. The Owls will advance to bracket play after winning Pool B with a 3-0 record. They will face Lubbock Christian (Texas) Monday at 10 a.m. CDT from the Gulf Shores Sportsplex.
One day after pitching the tournament’s first perfect game, Owls starter Jackie Imhoff had another gem. The senior from Portland, Ore., allowed just two base runners in five innings in the form of a lead-off single in the first inning and a lead-off walk in the second. She finished the game retiring 12-straight batters.
Imhoff wrapped up her day with six strikeouts and gave up one walk.
The Owls got to TNU pitcher Lauren Baker early in the second inning. With the bases loaded, Kayde Schaefer delivered a two-RBI single that scored Brittany Cherry and Bree Larson.
The Owls added two runs in the fourth inning before a four-run outburst in the fifth. The highlight came from Jess Plummer as she uncorked a three-run homer. That was her 11th home run of the season and handed Oregon Tech a 7-0 lead. The game went final after a bases-loaded walk given up by TNU’s Riley Mashburn.
Larson went 3-for-3 with two runs scored to lead the Owls at the plate. Plummer finished 2-for-3 with three RBIs.
Baker was hit with her first loss of the year and dropped to 25-1. She went 4.0 innings as she gave up four runs on seven hits. She struck out three and walked one.
Trevecca Nazarene ends its season with a 48-4 overall record after going 2-1 in Pool B.
