Box Score

GULF SHORES, Ala. – Lindsey Wilson’s (Ky.) (46-7) pitching duo of Anyibell Ramirez and Morgan Paschall combined for a no-hitter in the 3-0 victory against Minot State (N.D.) in pool-place action on day one of the NAIA Softball National Championship. The event is being held at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex.

The pair combined for 11 strikeouts and 120 pitches in the seven-inning shutout. They did allow six walks and Minot State threatened in both the second and seventh innings. In the second, Ramirez allowed three walks to load the bases. But she got out of the jam with two-straight strikeouts. Then in the seventh frame, Paschall retired the final out after a walk and an error.

The Blue Raiders took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning. After a one-out walk, Amy Harner scored on a balk by Minot State’s Mandy Greenberg. The second run was courtesy of a solo home run by Ally Goniea. That roundtripper was her 10th of the year.

Lindsey Wilson tacked on a solo run in the seventh to complete the scoring.

Ramirez earned her 28th win of the year in the circle. She ranks fourth in the country with her win total. Greenberg was hit with the loss as she fell to 17-6. She gave up three runs on six hits. The sophomore struck out nine and walked two.

On Friday, Lindsey Wilson faces Bellevue (Neb.) at 5:30 p.m. CDT in pool-play action. Minot State looks for its first win in pool play with a contest against Belhaven (Miss.) at 12:30 p.m.
