PIPPA PASSES, Ky. – Asbury’s (Ky.) Kelsey Robinson threw the first perfect game in school history in a 12-0 victory over KIAC rival Alice Lloyd (Ky.) on Tuesday (april 19).  Asbury won the first game of the doubleheader 10-0 as Maris Harreld threw a one-hitter.

Robinson (Petersburg, Ky.) faced 15 batters in the five inning games, striking out five.  She forced eight groundouts and two pop-ups.  Robinson improved to 3-2 on the season and lowered her team-leading ERA to 1.60 on the season.  She also leads the KIAC in that category and ranks in the top 50 nationally.

Asbury (15-8, 12-4 KIAC) didn’t waste any time scoring, giving Robinson a 2-0 lead before she threw a pitch.  Rebecca Baker and Jessica Johnson produced RBI singles in the first inning.  Johnson would belt her second home run of the season in the fourth inning, a two run shot.  She finished the game with three hits, four RBIs and two runs scored.  Amber Taylor would hit her fourth home run going back-to-back with Johnson in the fourth.

The Eagles put up five runs in the third and fourth innings.  All nine players in the batting order produced a hit and six had at least two hits.

In game one Maris Harreld nearly no-hit Alice Lloyd for the second time this season, allowing only a fourth inning blooper to center.  Harreld walked one and struck out seven in six innings, improving to 8-4 this season.

Miranda Drury collected three hits and now leads the team and conference with a .462 batting average.  Drury doubled twice and scored three times while driving in three.  Stephanie Wade picked up five RBIs and two hits including a two-run triple in the fifth.

Asbury scored in four of the six innings, tallying two in the first and third and three in the fifth and sixth innings.

The Eagles will take on Georgetown College (27-12, 18-4 MSC) on Thursday at 5:00 pm in Georgetown.
