GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Davenport (Mich.) Lady Panthers Softball team will be hosting a Strikeout Cancer game on Wednesday at 4pm against cross-town rival Aquinas College (Mich.). The DU softball players will be sporting pink jerseys and encourage all in attendance to wear pink.

In collaboration with the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA), Davenport will be hosting a Strikeout Cancer game in which all the proceeds collected from the event will be donated to the American Cancer Society. Cancer survivor and Head DU Cheerleading coach Rachel Nemmers will be throwing out the first pitch in game one of the doubleheader.

Pink shirts ($10) and wristbands ($2) will be on sale along with a $2 gate donation. The Davenport marketing interns will also have pink candy bags available for purchase with the chance to win a $25 gift card to Meijer.

Other fun activities planned are a dunk tank with DU students and also free popcorn will be available for fans.

Aquinas College will continue efforts for raising funds for this great cause as they will also host a Strikeout Cancer game next Wednesday, April 20th when the Panthers travel to their home field for a conference doubleheader.

Currently Davenport leads the all-time series with the Saints 5-3 but Aquinas won the last meeting between these two teams and has also won 3 of 4 when playing at Davenport’s home field.
