Mike Renney of Simon Fraser Named 2010 NAIA Softball Coach of the Year

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Simon Fraser (B.C.) head coach Mike Renney has been named 2010 NAIA Softball Coach of the Year, the national office announced Friday. Renney guided the Clan to its fourth National Championship with a 4-3 victory over Oklahoma City on May 26 at Wilson Morgan Softball Complex in Decatur, Ala.
Renney, who has been at the helm of the Simon Fraser softball program since 1995, has previously earned the distinction of NAIA Coach of the Year on four occasions: 1999, 2003 and 2005. Each of those years his team took home the National Championship banner.
During his tenure, Renney has led the Clan to 14 appearances in the national championship and has advanced to the title game seven times. Four of his players have garnered the National Championship's Most Valuable Player award and two others have been named NAIA Player of the Year and NAIA Pitcher of the Year.
Renney owns a career and Simon Fraser coaching record 475-162 (.746) in 16 seasons.
