CRETE, Neb. - Doane College (Neb.) senior Whitney Poole broke the school record for stolen bases, taking her 105th on Sunday against Dakota Wesleyan University (S.D.). Poole entered the day needing two stolen bases to set a new mark.

After reaching in the first inning on an infield single, Poole stole second base to tie the mark of 104 held by Mindy Nguyen (2006-09). She then reached first base on a fielder's choice in the fifth inning and on the first pitch of the next batter, she stole second base to take over the all-time mark in school history.

Poole, a native of Holtville, Ala., currently ranks eighth in the NAIA in stolen bases with 35 this year. Her mark is also the second most for a single season at Doane, ranking behind Nguyen's 55 steals in 2006.

Poole, Doane's first All-American, ranks in the top 10 in several career categories, including first all-time for runs scored with 123. She holds three of the top-six marks for stolen bases in a season. Poole is in striking distance of the career hits mark, sitting 15 shy of the record.
