Notre Dame Stays Alive in Nationals with 3-0 Win

DECATUR, Ala. - Notre Dame (Ohio) University knocks Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College out of the 29th Annual NAIA Softball National Championships with a 3-0 win. NAIA No. 25 Notre Dame, the lowest ranked team left in the tournament and only team on in the top-10, keeps their season going with another win over a highly ranked opponent.
Notre Dame (34-10) scored all three of their runs in the bottom of the third inning, with only one of the runs being earned. Candace Shofar and Tara Meyer recorded one RBI each, while Mallory Harder led with two hits. Meyer also tossed a gem, allowing just six hits and striking out six in her complete game shutout.
Martin Methodist's Sally Gale took the loss, allowing three runs, one earned and striking out five over her six innings of work. The RedHawks of Martin Methodist, ranked No. 9 in the NAIA, end their season with a 43-13 record.
Notre Dame advances to play the loser of Dickinson State (N.D.) and St. Gregory's (Okla.) at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
