LA GRANDE, Ore. - On Easter Sunday, April 12th, Mountaineer senior Megan Platz hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the first inning to become Eastern Oregon University's career leader in homeruns in less than two seasons as a Mountie.  But with 14 games left to play in the season, Platz will look to add to her career mark and finish out her senior campaign in style.

Platz, through 28 games this year, has amassed 12 homeruns and 29 RBI's which are both team highs and good enough to lead the Cascade Collegiate Conference in homeruns and tie for second best in RBI's.  Platz is also slugging a CCC-best .840 on the year and is fifth in batting average a .383 and third in total hits this season.

However, the New Plymouth, Idaho native has not just been a force, but has been an immediate impact player since she set foot on the campus of EOU.  Last season she started all 44 contests for the Mountaineers and hit .331 with 14 homeruns and 34 RBI's while slugging a solid .708.  Platz, in just her second season as a Mountie, is well ahead of all those marks from a year ago and has not only been solid in the batters box, but in the field as well.

As a two year starter, Platz has a career fielding percentage of .991 in 72 games at first base, and has committed just five errors in that time.  Platz and the Mountaineer softball team are currently on a four game winning streak, and will look to keep it rolling on the second half of the team's two week home stand at Peggy Anderson Field.

Next up for the Mountaineers will be the Beacons of Northwest Christian College on Friday, April 17th.  That contest will start at 2:00 p.m. at "The PEG".
