NAIA Softball Weekly Awards Announced - #3

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Amanda Howard of Oklahoma City has been selected as the NAIA Softball Player of the Week while Valerie Teter of Columbia (Mo.) was awarded the NAIA Softball Pitcher of the Week while for March 23-29.

 

Howard, a junior centerfielder from Strathmore, Alberta, Canada, batted .692 with 1.923 slugging percentage last week.  In four games she went 9-13 with three home runs, three doubles, two triples 10 RBI and three runs scored.  In a 6-3 win over No. 6 Lubbock Christian (Tex.), Howard went 3-4 at the plate with two home runs, a triple and 4 RBI.

 

Teter, a sophomore pitcher from Bevier, Mo., notched four wins in five appearances last week. She set a new school record with 17 strikeouts against Easter Connecticut and followed that with a no-hitter against Mt. Vernon Nazarene (Ohio). On the week Teter pitched 34.1 innings allowing one earned run, 12 hits and struck out 49 batters.

 

The next Players of the Week will be announced on April 7.
