JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - Today, the Johnson City Chamber of Commerce, Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Parks & Recreation Department announced the Amateur Softball Association of America and the 2008 USA Softball Women's National Team "Bound 4 Beijing" Tour will make a stop in Johnson City, Tenn. on April 13th to play an exhibition game against the Milligan College Lady Buffs. The Lady Buffs begin regular season play on February 7th however the mid-season exhibition game against the national team is an opportunity the Lady Buffs look forward to according to Milligan Head Softball Coach Wes Holly.

"Johnson City is one of 45 cities in the United States that will have this opportunity," said Melissa Steagall-Jones, the Johnson City Chamber of Commerce's Chair-Elect. "Milligan College Lady Buffs will be the first NAIA school and team to play an Olympic team in history."

The USA Softball Women's National Team during the  "Bound 4 Beijing" Tour will make stops in over 40 cities in preparation for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

"The Amateur Softball Association is proud to be able to organize the "Bound 4 Beijing Tour for the National Team as well as for the softball enthusiasts across the U.S.," said ASA Executive Director Ron Radigonda. "It's going to be an exciting year for our women's program as they look to a fourth-consecutive Gold Medal and what better way to get it started than with a tour across the United States. Our local associations have done a great job in hosting these stops, providing the opportunity for our team to compete against the best teams in the country on American soil."
