Oklahoma City Rallies in Seventh to Take Victory

OKLAHOMA CITY RALLIES IN SEVENTH FOR VICTORYStars Remain Unbeaten in Championship

Decatur, Ala. - From the 2007 NAIA National Softball Championship at Wilson Morgan Park in Decatur, Alabama, Oklahoma City University (51-6) score five runs in the top of the seventh inning to remain unbeaten in the tournament and defeat Simon Fraser University (B.C.) (24-4) 11-8.

Down 6-8 heading into the top of the seventh inning, the Stars began their rally with three consecutive singles which scored the first run of the inning. With one out the Stars combined three additional hits including a single by Brittani Ellis to score Cat Calvert to take the lead. Oklahoma City scored two additional runs to secure their 9-8 lead. Melody Murphy led the Stars going 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBI. Dasha Shembereva improved her season record to 29-3 while pitching four and one-third innings with six strikeouts.

Simon Fraser took the early lead in the multiple-run game by scoring two runs in the first inning, four in the second and two in the third but remained scoreless for the remainder of the game. Second baseman Erin McLean led the Clan with a 3-for-3 day with two runs scored and one RBI. Jennifer Schreyer suffered the loss dropping her season record to 17-2.

Oklahoma City advances in the winner's bracket to face Point Loma Nazarene University (Calif.) (44-10) at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Simon Fraser falls into the loser's bracket and will face St. Gregory's University (Okla.) (36-12) at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
