TREVECCA ADVANCES IN LOSER'S BRACKET
Trojans Eliminate Houston Baptist
A two-run fifth inning was all the Trojans of Trevecca Nazarene University needed to eliminate Houston Baptist and remain as a contender for a national title. After scoring one run in the top of the third inning, Trevecca added two runs in the fifth to seal the lead. Sophomore Chelsea Bailey became the Trojans first base runner when she hit a one-out single to shallow right field. Bailey later scored on Brittany Johnson's single down the right field line. Trevecca's second run of the inning came from Ashley McCool when she scored on a single by left fielder Jennifer Perkins. Perkins led all Trojan batters going 2-for-3 with one RBI. Johnson improved her season pitching record to 42-6 with seven complete innings and three strikeouts.
Houston Baptist finishes their season with the loss. The Huskies scattered six hits among six batters in the game. Freshman Kristi Malpass suffered the loss dropping her record to 16-5 on the season. Malpass allowed two earned runs while striking out five Trojan batters.
