HARTLEY LEADS SIMON FRASER WITH TWO HOME RUNS
Simon Fraser Advances in Winner's Bracket of 2007 Softball

 

Decatur, Ala. - From the 2007 NAIA National Softball Championship at Wilson Morgan Park in Decatur, Alabama, Simon Fraser University (B.C.) improves their record to 24-3 in the winner's bracket with a 3-0 victory over Houston Baptist University (Texas) (48-12).

 

A 3-for-3 outing with two home runs, two runs scored, and three RBI by senior Rebecca Hartley led the Clan of Simon Fraser in advancing in the winner's bracket. Hartley hit her third home run of the tournament in the bottom of the second inning and added her fourth of the tournament in the bottom of the sixth inning. Hartley led the Clan entering the tournament with a .508 batting average with 10 home runs and 33 RBI.

 

Senior Jennifer Schreyer improved her season record to 17-2 on the season with her third win in the tournament.  Schreyer pitched seven complete innings of play allowing no earned runs and four strikeouts.

 

Sarah Wilson a College Station, Texas, native led the Huskies with a 3-for-4 day.  The senior outfielder entered the tournament with a .285 batting average.  Senior Cheri Wood suffered the loss to drop her overall 2007 season record to 27-7 on the season.  Wood pitched six complete innings of play allowing three earned runs and four strikeouts.

 

Simon Fraser advances to play Oklahoma City University (50-6) this afternoon in the winner's bracket at 5:30 p.m.  In the loser's bracket, Houston Baptist will play Trevecca Nazarene University (Tenn.) (58-10) also at 5:30 p.m.
