Crews Becomes Swipes Leader as No. 12 Trevecca Nazarene tops Bethel (Tenn.)

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - NAIA No. 12 Trevecca (30-5, 14-2) continued TranSouth conference play with visiting Bethel College (8-14, 7-11). Trevecca won the opener 7-1 and closed the double-header with a 5-0 win.

Sidney Crews, who is hitting .319 on the year, is now 27-of-29 in stolen base attempts after wthe win over Bethel. Crews is now the single season steals record holder, over taking former Trojan Jami Toomey who had 25 steals in 2005.

Trevecca has now won 30 games or more in a school record three consecutive seasons. Its the fifth time in the 16 year history of the program that the team has won 30 or more games, all in the last six years.

The only time in the last six years the team didn't win 30 was in 2004 and that team won 29 games. The 14 conference wins is also a program best. Ernie Reynolds is now 114-29 midway through his third season at the helm of the program. Even more impressive is his 36-12 TranSouth conference record over his two plus seasons leading the program.

Trevecca's Brittiany Johnson (17-3) picked up the win in game one with five innings of work. Johnson allowed just three hits, a walk and a single earned run while striking out six Wildcats. Stephanie Fisher pitched the final two innings and allowed just one hit and had a strike out. Maeghan Morris took the loss for Bethel.

Ashley McCool was 2-for-4 with a run, a stolen base, and a RBI. Laura Redmon was 2-for-3 with two runs, a stolen base, a home run and a RBI. Sammy Simon was 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Trevecca's Stephanie Fisher (10-2) picked her 10th win on the season with five scoreless innings of work in the start against Bethel in game two. Fisher allowed just two hits and a walk while striking out one. Brittiany Johnson finished the games final two innings allowing just one hit and two walks and struck out four. Ashton McFarland took the loss for Bethel with six innings of work. She allowed two earned runs and five runs overall by giving up seven hits and a walk. McFarland struck out three Trojans.

Chelsea Bailey was 1-for-3 with two runs scored and two stolen bases. Ashley McCool was 1-for-3 with a run, triple, and two RBI.
