March 23, 2007

OKLAHOMA CITY - Julie Harvey put together a five-inning perfect game as Oklahoma City University defeated Southwestern (Kan.) 10-0 on Friday in the OCU Domino's softball invitational at Hall of Fame Stadium.

Harvey, a sophomore right-hander from Montreal, threw five innings and struck out 10. She registered eight strikeouts in a row, striking out the side in the second and third innings.

On the year, Harvey moved to 4-0. The Stars, ranked second in the NAIA, improved to 20-4 with an 8 p.m. game against Evangel (Mo.) Friday to come.

"Julie had better movement today than she has had," OCU coach Phil McSpadden said. "It allowed her to have the performance she had today."

OCU tallied four runs in the third. Rachel Cope scored on a double steal for the Stars. With Cat Calvert and Brittani Ellis on base, Amanda Howard knocked a three-run home run to right field.

The Stars play Saturday in bracket play of the OCU Domino's Invitational at Hall of Fame Stadium.
