2019-2020 NAIA Wrestling Coaches' Top 20 Poll – Postseason Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the ninth-consecutive season, Grand View (Iowa) claims the No. 1 ranking in the postseason edition of the NAIA Wrestling Coaches’ Top 20 Poll, the national office announced Friday. The Vikings won their ninth-straight national title with 157 points. With this team win Grand View beat the NAIA record for most team wins in a season.

 

Top 20 Highlights (historical information dates back to 2000-01)

  • Grand View is in the top position for the 57th-consecutive ranking. The Vikings streak started on Oct. 17, 2012.
  • No. 1 Vikings head coach, Nick Mitchell, tied the longest collegiate championship-winning streak alongside Dan Gable at the University of Iowa
  • The Vikings had 10 NAIA All-Americans this year and two individual national champions
  • Two schools had two national champions – Menlo (Calif.) (Blaysen Terrakina and Anthony Orozoco) and Grand View (Renaldo Rodriguez-Spencer and Evan Hansen)
  • No. 2 Menlo (Calif.) (84.5), No. 3 Reinhardt (Ga.) (83), No. 4 Cumberlands (Ky.) (78.5) and No. 5 Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) (76.5) round out the top five.
  • Two new teams enter the top-20 – No. 18 Cumberland (Tenn.) and No. 20 Doane (Neb.)
  • Since 2001, only Grand View (2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18, 2018-19,2019-20), former members Notre Dame (Ohio) (2010-11) and Lindenwood (Mo.) (2006-07) have spent the entire season ranked No. 1.
