Recap of the Second Day of Competition at the 2025 NAIA Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championship

 MARION, Ind. [RESULTS] - The second day of the 2025 NAIA Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championship saw six individual champions crowned. 

The preliminary events that took place on day two consisted of 110m hurdles, 800m, 100m, 400m, 5000m and the 4x400m relay.

DECATHLON
The final four events of the decathlon took place on day two before deciding the decathlon champion.

Carson Krack of Carroll (Mont.) emerged as the overall winner with a total of 6963 points. He demonstrated consistent performance across events, securing top-three finishes in the high jump (3rd), 400m (2nd), and 1500m (2nd). His standout performance in the 400m, with a time of 49.74 seconds, earned him 827 points, contributing significantly to his victory.

Justin Krabbenhoft of Eastern Oregon finished a close second with 6948 points. He excelled in the 100m, finishing 5th with a time of 11.00 seconds, and the long jump, where he claimed first place with a leap of 6.84m. 

5000m RACE WALK

Lowell Solmes of British Columbia emerged victorious with a time of 20:43.77, showcasing a strong finish to secure the top spot. Solmes demonstrated consistent pacing throughout the race, particularly excelling in the latter stages where he moved up the ranks from as far back as 13th to claim the title after leading in the final stretch.

Solmes teammate, Tyler Wilson, finished close behind in second place with a time of 20:49.23. Wilson maintained a competitive edge, leading at several points during the race, but ultimately couldn't hold off Solmes' late surge.

Cameron Nocton from IU East (Ind.) rounded out the top three with a time of 20:52.79. Nocton started strong, even leading the race early on, but gradually slipped to third as the race progressed.

4x800m RELAY

In the 4x800m relay, the top five teams finished within three seconds of each other, highlighting the high level of talent and determination in the field.

Milligan (Tenn.) emerged victorious with a time of 7:30.14, narrowly edging out Oklahoma City by just 0.05 seconds. The Milligan team, consisting of Sylas Chambers, Luis Peralta, Carter Windham, and Bryn Woodall, showcased a consistent performance throughout the race. They started strong, with Peralta clocking a 1:55.235 split, and maintained their lead with Windham's impressive 1:50.100 in the third leg. Woodall sealed the win with a 1:51.389 final split.

Oklahoma City, led by Alexander Daly, Tate Smithhart, Belkhalfi Hamza, and Brendan Robeaux, initially took the lead with Daly's 1:54.311 split but fell slightly behind in the second leg. Despite a strong comeback in the third leg by Hamza, who ran a 1:51.739, they finished just behind Milligan.

Cornerstone (Mich.) secured third place with a time of 7:32.84. The team, featuring Peyton Tipton, Parker Matheny, Chase Holwerda, and Spencer VanderZwaag, maintained a steady pace throughout the race. Holwerda's 1:52.351 split in the third leg helped them hold onto their position, while VanderZwaag surpassed Marian (Ind.), Indiana Wesleyan and Spring Arbor (Mich.) in the final straightaway. 

Marian (Ind.) and Indiana Wesleyan rounded out the top five, finishing with times of 7:33.00 and 7:33.15, respectively. Both teams demonstrated strong performances, with Marian's Andrew McDade running a notable 1:51.605 in the final leg and Indiana Wesleyan's Braden Sweet clocking a 1:50.166, the fastest final leg split of the race.

LONG JUMP

Two freshmen topped the long jump finals with impressive performances in their first NAIA Outdoor Championship appearance. 

Maxwell Wordui of Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) emerged as the winner with an impressive mark of 7.74m (25-4.75). Wordui recorded his best jump on his fifth attempt. Despite a foul on his fourth attempt, he maintained his lead with a strong series of jumps, including a 7.68m (25-2.25) jump on his final attempt.

Eubrig Maza of William Carey (Miss.) secured second place with a best jump of 7.66m (25-1.50) on his fourth attempt.

Maza's teammate, Royan Walters, followed closely behind in third place with a top jump of 7.57m (24-10.00). Walters had a solid series, with his best jump coming on his fifth attempt that secured a podium finish.

HIGH JUMP

Weston Means of Carroll (Mont.) emerged as the winner, clearing a height of 2.10m (6-10.75). Means strategically passed on the initial height and cleared 2.01m and 2.04m on his first attempts. He faced a challenge at 2.07m, clearing it on his second attempt, and then successfully cleared 2.10m on his first try to become a champion. 

Vance Shewey of Tabor (Kan.) secured second place with a mark of 2.07m (6-9.50). Shewey had a strong start, clearing the first three heights on his first attempts. However, he struggled at 2.10m, failing to clear it after three attempts.

Tyler Jones of Eastern Oregon and Victor Dailey of Marian (Ind.) both cleared 2.04m (6-8.25), but Jones took third place due to fewer missed attempts at earlier heights. Dailey tied for fourth place with his teammate, Gunner Kovach.

DISCUS

In the discus competition, Ayobami Arokoyo from Saint Xavier (Ill.) emerged as the winner with a top mark of 54.37m (178-5.00). His second throw was enough to secure the victory.

Cade VanVleet from Montana Tech finished in second place with a best throw of 53.10m (174-3.00) on his fourth attempt. VanVleet posted consistent throws above 50m in four of his attempts.

Marcel` Reisch from Madonna (Mich.) secured third place with a mark of 52.15 meters (171-1.00) on his fifth attempt. Reisch had multiple throws over 51 meters.

TEAM SCORES

Through two days of competition, British Columbia leads all teams with a total of 44 points. Carroll (Mont.) secured the second position with 34 points. Marian (Ind.) rounded out the top three with 26 points.

Madonna (Mich.) followed in fourth place with 19 points, while a three-way tie for fifth place saw Cumberlands (Ky.), Lindsey Wilson (Ky.), and Cornerstone (Mich.) each earning 15 points. 

William Carey (Miss.) and Eastern Oregon both finished with 14 points, tying for eighth place, while Indiana Wesleyan completed the top ten with 13 points. The middle of the pack saw a three-way tie for eleventh place, with Saint Xavier (Ill.), Milligan (Tenn.), and College of Idaho each scoring 10 points.

 

The top eight finishers in each event are NAIA All-Americans. 

The final day of the championship will open with the 3,000m steeplechase final at 12:20 p.m. CT/1:20 p.m. ET. The day will culminate in crowning a team champion with the Red Banner at approximately 5 p.m. CT/6 p.m. ET
