2025 UTR NAIA Men's Tennis National Championship Recap - Day Two

MOBILE, Ala. - [Bracket | Schedule] Round two of the UTR NAIA Men’s Tennis National Tournament is through, and five of the eight matches ended in 4-3 results, and the other three were 4-0 sweeps.

Only one northern team remains in the 11th-seeded Racers of Northwestern Ohio after pulling an upset over sixth-seeded Lindsey Wilson (Ky.). Two of the eight teams with a round one bye advanced to the quarterfinals on Thursday.

GAME NOTES AND HIGHLIGHTS

  • Northwestern Ohio returns to the quarterfinals after defeating Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) in a 4-3 battle. The Racers look to avenge their 4-2 loss to Georgia Gwinnett in the 2024 semifinals.
  • The University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) outlasted Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) 4-3 and made a comeback after losing the doubles point.
  • Xavier (La.) bested William Carey (Miss.) with the final singles point to seal the match in two singles in a pair of familiar foes that faced off for their third time this season in Mobile.
  • SCAD Savannah (Ga.) survives against Holy Cross (Ind.) 4-3 in their first National Tournament appearance since 2017 and wins their first match of the tournament after having the bye in round one.
  • The reigning national runner-up Keiser (Fla.) sweeps Grace (Ind.) 4-0 in the Seahawks’ first match after the first-round bye. Keiser will face Northwestern Ohio in the quarterfinals.
  • Tennessee Wesleyan swept Dillard (La.) 4-0 and improved their national tournament record to 11-8.
  • Southeastern (Fla.) knocked off Cumberland (Tenn.) 4-3 after losing the doubles point and won two singles, three singles, four singles, and six singles.
  • The reigning NAIA Champion and first-seeded Georgia Gwinnett defeated Middle Georgia State to face Xavier (La.) in the quarterfinals.
