NAIA Men’s Tennis All-Americans Released

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has officially announced the 2021 NAIA Men’s Tennis All-America teams. Honorees were selected by the NAIA All-America Selection Committee. Sixteen student-athletes comprise both the first and second teams.

National champion Georgia Gwinnett led all schools with five first-team selections and six overall with one honorable mention selection named. Alex Gurmendi, Luis Gomar, Jose Dugo, Valentino Caratini and Matthias Haim represented the Grizzlies on the first team while Federico Bonacia was named a second-team selection. Haim was named the Ward-Ballinger Outstanding Player at the national championship over the weekend.

Two student-athletes represented national championship runner-up Keiser (Fla.) on the first team. Luke Simkiss and Toru Horie were both honored with first-team honors for the Seahawks. Simkiss completed his season undefeated in singles play on Saturday with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Alex Gurmendi.

William Carey (Miss.) was also well represented on the top team with two selections. All totaled, Georgia Gwinnett leads all schools with six selections to the two teams combined. Keiser is second with five. William Carey, Xavier (La.), San Diego Christian (Calif.), Indiana Wesleyan and Cardinal Stritch (Wis.) all have two selections on the two teams.
