2021 NAIA Men’s Soccer All-Americans Announced

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced the 2021 NAIA Men’s Soccer All-America teams on Wednesday, after the competition of the national championships in Decatur, Alabama.

Alejo Binaghi of the University of Mobile (Ala.) has been named the 2021 NAIA Men's Soccer Player of the Year. This season, he scored 24 goals and added six assists for a total of 54 points. Nationally, he was second in total goals and first in total points. He tallied 78 total shots and netted 10 game winning goals.

The NAIA All-America committee consists of the NAIA-Men’s Soccer Coaches Association Executive Committee, the National Championship Games Committee and four men’s soccer coaches. Each team – first, second and third – consists of 11 members and the honorable mention teams.

Each of the All-America teams is comprised of a goalkeeper, three defenders, three midfielders, three forwards, and one at-large position.

Overall, Mobile (Ala.) the runner-up in the championship game, has the most recipients with four. The Red Banner winning Keiser (Fla.) Seahawks had a trio of honorees as did Central Methodist (Mo.) and Oklahoma Wesleyan. CMU and OKWU had all of their student-athletes be selected to the First-Team.

Nine members are repeat winners including Julio Belo, Luka Gluscevic, Stefan Lukic, and Stefano Camerlengo who are once again First-Team selections. German Marcos elevated his standing from Second-Team a year ago, as did Ewan McLauchlan and Will Harris from Third-Team. Liam Gibbs stayed in his Second-Team standing and Toby Millward moved down to Third-Team.

Selections from teams who did not win their Opening Round Brackets include two from Bellevue (Neb.), William Carey (Miss.), Mid-America Christian University (Okla.), and St. Thomas (Fla.). Single honorees came from Baker (Kan.), Lindsey Wilson (Ky.), Rio Grande (Ohio), Vanguard (Calif.), Lyon (Ark.) and Northwestern (Iowa).

The 2021 Select Sport America-NAIA Men’s Soccer National Coach of the Year will be announced later this spring at the United Soccer Coaches Convention in Kansas City.
