2020 NAIA Men's Soccer Coach of the Year
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Vladimir Simic of Missouri Valley has been named the 2020 Select Sport America-NAIA Men’s Soccer Coach of the year, the NAIA announced Wednesday.
Missouri Valley was awarded their first red banner in program history after defeating Oklahoma Wesleyan 2-0 in the 2020 National Championship Final. The Vikings win finishes their 2020 with an overall record of 18-4-2.
Coach Simic has served at the helm of the Vikings his 2002. The 2020 red banner was his first national championship in coaching career after earning runner-up in both 2017 and 2018. He has an overall record of 20-8-2 in the national tournament in 10 appearances. Since 2010 Simic has won four Heart of America Athletic Conference regular season championships, four Heart Postseason Tournament titles and qualified for the NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship eight times, advanced to the final site six times. He has an overall coaching record of 223-106-33.
This season Simic coached the 2020 NAIA Player of the Year Luka Gluscevic. The midfielder from Belgrade, Serbia scored three game winning goals this season and was ranked third in total assists averaging 13 per game.
The 2020 Select Sport America-NAIA National Coach of the Year is voted on by the NAIA-Men’s Soccer Coaches Association. To be eligible, a head coach must be selected as their conference or unaffiliated group coach of the year or lead their team to the NAIA Men’s Soccer National Championship Final Site.
