2019 NAIA Men's Soccer Players of the Week - Week Nine

KANSAS CITY, MO. - Matheus Giron of Corban (Ore.) has been named the NAIA National Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week and Andres Zimmermann of Menlo (Calif.) has been named the NAIA National Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the National office announced Tuesday. The two student-athletes were nominated for their performances during the week of Oct. 28 – Nov. 10 and were selected out of a pool of conference and Association of Independent Institutions award winners.

 

Offensive Player of the Week

Matheus Giron, Corban (Ore.)  

JR, M, Sao Paulo, Brazil

  • Helped the Warriors to win Cascade Collegiate Conference regular-season title  
  • Provided the game-winner in Sunday’s championship match against Rocky Mountain (Mont.)
  • Totaled four goals and one assist

 

Defensive Player of the Week

Andres Zimmermann, Menlo (Calif.)

JR, GK, Basel, Switzerland

  • Totaled six saves this week over the course of two road wins
  • Helped the Oaks to defeat No. 24 Vanguard (Calif.)
  • Zimmermann owns the second-best goals against average in GSAC with 0.99
  • He has completed seven straight shutouts
