2019 NAIA Men's Soccer Postseason Coaches' Top 25 Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Central Methodist (Mo.) return from their second national championship run in just their second NAIA Men’s Soccer postseason appearance, claimed the No. 1-spot in the final edition of the 2019 NAIA Men’s Soccer Coaches’ Top 25 Poll.

Top 25 Highlights

  • The Eagles were well-deserved champions, finishing the season 25-1-0 a program best.
  • No. 1 Central Methodist outscored its five postseason opponents by a combined score of 18-2, with each game decided by at least two goals.
  • No. 2 Hastings (Neb.) were runner-up in the 2019 NAIA National Championship. The Broncos bear the No. 4, No. 5 and No. 2 seeds to reach the championship game.
  • Missouri Valley made a huge leap in the postseason poll moving from No. 24 to No. 7. The Vikings appeared in the quarterfinals where they fell to Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) 1-0.
  • University of Northwestern Ohio also made huge improvement jumping from No. 21 in the final regular-season poll to No. 8 in the postseason poll.
  • Joining the postseason poll: Madonna (Mich.), UC Merced (Calif.), Keiser (Fla.) and John Brown (Ark.)
  • Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) holds the record as the longest consecutively ranked active school at 139-straight polls, dating back to the first installment of the Top 25 in 2007. Rio Grande (Ohio) is second on the list with 129 consecutive polls.

Poll Methodology

  • The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences, Association of Independent Institutions and Unaffiliated Groups.
  • The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second-place and so on through the list.
  • The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low rating) is removed and the team’s ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appear on.
  • Teams that receive only one point in the ballot are not considered “receiving votes.”
