2019 Men's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 – Poll 10 (Nov. 13)

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Central Methodist remained No. 1 for the eighth week in a row in the final edition of NAIA Coaches’ Top 25 Poll. The Eagles started the Heart of America conference tournament off when 9-1 victory over Mount Mercy (Iowa).

Top 25 Highlights (historical information dates back to 2000):

  • The No. 1 Eagles are currently ranked in the top five in seven statistical categories. Including No. 2 in total assists (76), total goals (98), assists per game (4) and goals per game (5.16).
  • The Eagles collected 17 of the 18 first place votes earning 498 points.
  • Columbia (Mo.) remained in the No. 2 spot for the seventh week in a row earning one first place vote. The Cougars have 13 shutouts on the season and won the first round of their conference tournament.
  • Mobile (Ala.) continues to move up in the poll entering the top three this week after winning the Southern States Athletic Conference regular season. Earning just one loss on the year to Lindsey Wilson.
  • Houston-Victoria (Texas) earned a spot in the Top 25 poll at No. 22 after they won the conference final 3-2 over then-No. 20 LSUS to win the Red River Athletic Conference championship.
  • Life (Ga.) and Menlo (Cailf.) also joined the poll this week at No. 23 and No. 25.
  • Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) holds the record as the longest consecutively ranked active school at 139-straight polls, dating back to the first installment of the Top 25 in 2007. Rio Grande (Ohio) is second on the list with 129 consecutive polls.

Poll Methodology

  • The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences, Association of Independent Institutions and Unaffiliated Groups.
  • The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second-place and so on through the list.
  • The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low rating) is removed and the team’s ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appear on.
  • Teams that receive only one point in the ballot are not considered “receiving votes.”
