Keiser Utilized Multiple Scoring Runs to Advance to the NAIA Championship Game
SAVANNAH, Ga. – After waiting out inclement weather, top-ranked Keiser netted five straight goals to open both the first and second quarters to dominate #5 Concordia (Mich.) 23-8 and advance to the championship game of the 2025 NAIA Men’s Lacrosse Championship Thursday night at Memorial Stadium. The Seahawks improve to 14-1 on the season, while the Cardinals conclude their season with a 12-6 record.
Keiser set the tone early as Kegan Hufford netted three of the Seahawks’ first four goals of the contest to give the Seahawks a 4-0 lead with 6:40 remaining. The two teams traded goals before AJ Badik ripped a shot from 15 yards out for an unassisted goal to make it 6-1 in favor of the Seahawks. Lucas Green made a big save for Keiser, while Conor Kinsey notched consecutive saves for Concordia, keeping the score 6-1 after the first quarter.
The Seahawks continued their strong play in the second period, netting four straight goals to extend their lead to 10-1 with 10:30 remaining. Keiser took advantage of a penalty as Ryan Rundle connected with JP Prather for a man-up goal before adding a man-up goal of his own, making it 12-1 midway through the period. The Seahawks tacked on two more goals before Concordia netted back-to-back goals in the closing minute of the half, making it 14-3 in favor of Keiser at the break.
Keiser opened the third quarter with three different Seahawks combining to net three of the first four goals to extend their lead to 17-4. The Cardinals added a goal before Keiser closed out the period with three straight goals, capped off with an unassisted goal from Marek Albiero to make it 21-6 heading into the fourth quarter.
James Boyer made consecutive saves for the Seahawks to open the fourth quarter. The two teams traded goals twice over the final 11 minutes of the game for the 23-8 final.
Kegan Hufford and Ryan Stowell netted four goals apiece to lead the way for Keiser. The Seahawks had 11 different players net goals in the game, while Chris Rayburn went 9-12 on faceoffs and Jackson Marshall tallied a pair of caused turnovers to go along with four ground balls. Lucas Green and James Boyer combined for 11 saves in the win.
Leading the way for Concordia were Cooper Regimbal and Travis Wright, who each finished with two goals. Gavin Scally won 13 faceoffs and scooped a game-high seven ground balls, while Conor Kinsey finished with 12 saves.
The victory propels Keiser into the inaugural NAIA Men’s Lacrosse Championship Game, where they are set to face the winner of the match between #3 Cumberlands (Ky.) and #7 Madonna (Mich.). The championship game is scheduled for Friday, May 8 at 7 p.m. ET at Memorial Stadium as the quest for the championship title continues.
