2022 NAIA Men’s Golf National Championship Day Three Recap
SILVIS, Ill. – [Day Four Pairings] With the 36 hole cut line in the rearview mirror, 17 teams and 12 individuals competition for a pair of separate NAIA Men’s Golf National Championships. In today’s round, Keiser was the only team to shoot under-par and nine of the 17 teams who competed today were +10 or greater on the round.
Separation was made at the top of the field as Keiser (Fla.) chased down Dalton State (Ga.) to overtake the number one team score through 64 holes. The Seahawks used a -3 combined round which took advantage of a +1 performance from the Roadrunners after their historical achievement yesterday.
The top two teams hold a 12 and 14 shot lead over the third place team, respectively. Bellevue (Neb.), Point (Ga.), and Ottawa (Ariz.) are clustered together in third through fifth before another division line. Teams outside of the top five but inside the top 10 are 12 to 19 shots over par which puts them 21 to 28 strokes back of the leader.
Sebastien Porter of Point (Ga.) is the clubhouse leader for the individual title sitting -12 for the tournament. His 54-hole tally of 201 is the new gold standard in the NAIA record books, besting the previous score of 202 by Sean Elliott of Dalton State (Ga.) in 2015.
