2019-2020 NAIA DII Men's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll – No. 4

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mustangs of Morningside remain in the No. 1 spot for the third week in a row of the 2019-20 NAIA DII Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll. The Mustangs captured all 9 first-place votes this week allowing College of Idaho to receive two and Indiana Wesleyan one.

Top 25 Highlights

  • The No. 1 Mustangs are currently 15-1 in conference and 23-1 overall with their only loss being coming from cross town rival, Briar Cliff (Iowa).
  • The Mustangs are ranked in the top five in four different statistical categories including: field goal percentage (.522), total rebound defense (30.0), scoring defense per game (66.75), assist/turnover ratio (1.531) and scoring margin (16.542)
  • Keiser (Fla.) is currently on a five game win streak and made the biggest jump this week moving up from No. 14 to No. 6. They are ranked No. 7 nationally in scoring offense per game with 89 points per game and first in total blocks.
  • Marian (Ind.) joined the top five this week. The Knights are 11-2 in their last 13 games with big wins over Indiana Wesleyan, Bethel (Ind.), St. Francis (Ind.).
  • Indiana Wesleyan holds the longest active streak in the poll with 86-straight appearances.

Poll Methodology

  • The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences, Association of Independent Institutions and Unaffiliated Groups.
  • The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second place and so on through the list.
  • The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low rating) is removed and the team’s ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appear on.
  • Teams that receive only one point in the ballot are not considered “receiving votes”
