2019-2020 NAIA DII Men's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll – No. 2

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mustangs of Morningside move up one spot to earn the No. 1 spot in the latest edition of the 2019-20 NAIA DII Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll. The Mustangs are the only team in the Great Plains Athletic Conference to remain undefeated on the season.

Top 25 Highlights

  • Morningside (Iowa) claimed all 12 first-place votes this week.
  • The Mustangs are currently 10-0 overall, 5-0 in conference including a win over then-No. 23 Dordt (Iowa)
  • The newcomers to the poll this week Lourdes (Ohio), Northwestern (Iowa), Michigan-Dearborn, Keiser (Fla.), Mount Marty (S.D.), Antelope Valley (Calif.)
  • Lourdes (Ohio).
  • No. 14 Lourdes has a very talented team this season, they have won six straight games with the help of National Player of the Week last week, Cliff Snow.
  • Bethel (Ind.) made the biggest improvement this week moving from No. 19 to No. 9. Bethel went 3-0 since the last poll and is currently 11-0 overall. They have five wins over teams in Top 25 or receiving votes.
  • Indiana Wesleyan holds the longest active streak in the poll with 85-straight appearances. Bethel (Ind.) is next with 74 and then Cornerstone (Mich.) with 64.

Poll Methodology

  • The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences, Association of Independent Institutions and Unaffiliated Groups.
  • The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second place and so on through the list.
  • The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low rating) is removed and the team’s ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appear on.
  • Teams that receive only one point in the ballot are not considered “receiving votes”
