KANSAS CITY, Mo. – [FSC Schedule Experience NAIA Championships App] The 2020 NAIA Football National Championship Series Semifinals took place on Saturday May 1, 2021. After two great football game, Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) and Northwestern (Iowa) will head to Grambling, La., to square off in the 2020 NAIA Football National Championship game.

Semifinals Highlights

  • Northwestern (Iowa) ended Morningside's (Iowa) perfect two-year record with a last minute upset in Sioux City on Saturday with fans on the edge of their seats throughout the 60-minute heavyweight fight on the FieldTurf at Elwood Olsen Stadium
  • The two teams had met early in September of this year in conference play where Morningside upped its current win streak to seven against its league rival. In four of the last five meetings, the margin of victory has been 14-points-or-less. Before Saturday the Mustangs led 13-3 all-time in the matchup. 
  • Tyson Kooima connected with Michael Storey for a game-winning touchdown with 16 seconds left to play to give No.6 Northwestern a 44-41 road win over two-time defending national champions, No.1 Morningside. 
  • Northwestern totaled 505 yards on offense, 490 coming through the air from quarterback, Tyson Kooima, who completed 21-of-31 passes for a single-game record of 490 yards and three touchdowns.
  • Wide reciever, Cade Moser also had a record-breaking day for the Red Raiders with 11 catches for 303 yards and a touchdown. 
  • The Mustangs Senior running back, Anthony Sims concluded a remarkable championship series run with 40 carries for 244 yards and three touchdowns. 
  • Junior quarterback Joe Dolincheck stepped up yet again, firing for 347 yards and one touchdown. 
  • No. 3-ranked Lindsey Wilson football scored 31 unanswered points to beat No. 4-ranked Keiser (Fla.) 38-14 today in the NAIA Football Championship Series National Semifinals at Blue Raider Stadium.
  • Blue Raider offense racked up 537 yards of total offense, including 250 yards on the ground. Lindsey Wilson is averaging 478 yards in the FCS, against three top-15 teams.
  • Cameron Dukes led the Blue Raider offense with 287 passing yards and four touchdowns en route to earning the game's Most Outstanding Offensive Player. Marcellus Campbell picked up defensive player of the game honors for his team-high tying nine tackles and three pass breakups.
  • Keiser (Fla.) opened the game with an impressive 8-play, 80-yard drive to take a 7-0 lead. Eli Mathews orchestrated the drive that ultimately led to a three-yard touchdown toss to Jaylen Arnold. Matthews finished the game 27-of-44 through the air for 262 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.
  • Lindsey Wilson picks up its 50th win in Blue Raider Stadium history with today's win, including its 14th straight. The Blue Raiders are now 50-15 all-time at home.
