2020-21 NAIA Football Game of the Week No. 14
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced the NAIA Football Game of the Week for April 10 will be the Mid-States Midwest matchup of No. 20-ranked Roosevelt (Ill.) at RV St. Ambrose (Iowa). The game was selected by fans across the country in an online Twitter poll.
No. 20 Roosevelt looks to continue its 5-1 winning inaugural season record with an away game in Davenport, Iowa to face the Fighting Bees of St. Ambrose. In an earlier matchup between the two teams this season, Roosevelt came out on top with a 27-13 win at home.
St. Ambrose enters this week with a 5-2 record and receiving votes in the most recent NAIA Football FirstDown PlayBook Top 25 Poll. The Fighting Bees look to continue its winning record and earn its sixth win of the season this weekend.
Following a 31-8 win over Trinity International (Ill.) and canceled game against Missouri Baptist, the Lakers go on the road for the first away game in three weeks. Against Trinity International, the Lakers recorded 466 total yards of offense, including 306 on the ground. Standouts included junior RB Ke'Von Johnson who rushed for 199 yards on 34 carries, including one touchdown. On defense, freshman DB Collin Schmutzler tallied six tackles, an interception, and three pass breakups.
In the most recent game against Saint Francis (Ill.), the Fighting Bees added a 24-7 win to its season record. After two weeks on the road, St. Ambrose looks forward to playing on home turf at Brady Street Stadium. Against the Fighting Saints, 188 passing yards for three touchdowns and 138 rushing yards were recorded for the Fighting Bees. Standout players included sophomore WR Yemi Ward who caught three touchdown passes from sophomore QB Declan McDonald. On defense, senior DL Ryan Zitkus recorded four sacks.
Both Roosevelt and St. Ambrose will conclude their regular-season schedules and look to fight to finish with another win added to their season records.
