Sheetinger Named 2020-21 Rawlings-NAIA Coach of the Year

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced that Jeremy Sheetinger of Georgia Gwinnett has been named the 2020-21 Rawlings-NAIA Baseball Coach of the Year.

Sheetinger guided Georgia Gwinnett to its first NAIA World Series title in 2021 as his team went undefeated in Lewiston, Idaho. This the first time in his career to be honored with as NAIA Coach of the Year.

The Grizzlies finished the 2021 year with a 51-10 overall record and were ranked in the top 10 in the nation in 20 statistical categories including total doubles (174), total runs scored (671) and total batters struck out (561).

In just his second year at the helm, Sheetinger guided his team to a 22-1 record in the team’s final 23 games. The Grizzlies lost just two games and finished 23-2 in a shortened 2020 season due to COVID-19. Overall, the Grizzlies’ skipper has a 160-55 record in his five-year coaching career.

The NAIA National Coach of the Year is voted on by the NAIA-Baseball Coaches Association (BCA) Executive Committee and NAIA-BCA Past Presidents. To be eligible, a head coach must be selected as their conference or unaffiliated group coach of the year or lead their team to the Avista-NAIA Baseball World Series.
