2024 NAIA Football Players of the Week - No. 9 (October 28)

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Amon Williams of Pikeville (Ky.) raced his way to being named the NAIA Football Offensive Player of the Week, Nate Swofford of Evangel (Mo.) has been named the NAIA Football Defensive Player of the Week and Austin Deleon of Saint Francis (Ind.) has been named the NAIA Football Special Teams Player of the Week.  The trio was selected based on their performances from October 21 - 27 and were chosen out of a pool of conference/Continental Athletic Conference (Independents)/unaffiliated group nominees. 

 

Players of the Week are announced weekly throughout the regular-season on Mondays on naia.org, Instagram and X.

NAIA Football Offensive Player of the Week

Amon Williams, Pikeville (Ky.) - SO – Running Back

  • Set Appalachian Athletic Conference records for most rushing yards (380) and touchdowns (5 – 4 rushing, 1 receiving) in a game
  • Set a Pikeville school record for most rushes in a game (39)
  • Tied the AAC conference record for most rushing touchdowns (4)

 


NAIA Football Defensive Player of the Week

Nate Swofford, Evangel (Mo.) - SR – Defensive Back

  • Blocked a field goal and returned a fumble 48 yards in a 24-21 win over No. 19 Friends (Kan.)
  • Intercepted a pass to set up good field position for the game-winning 20-yard field goal
  • Recorded six tackles in the Valor's victory

 


NAIA Football Special Teams Player of the Week

Austin Deleon, Saint Francis (Ind.) - FR – Kicker

  • Booted the game-winning 27-yard field goal to complete the 31-28, comeback win over No. 18 Marian (Ind.)
  • Went 4-for-4 on point after attempts
  • Accounted for seven total points on the day
