Recap of the 2022 NAIA Women's Lacrosse Quarterfinals
SOUTHFILED, Mich. – [Schedule/Results] [Bracket] A pair of upsets highlighted the quarterfinals of the 2022 NAIA Women’s Lacrosse Championship Wednesday at Memorial Stadium. No. 7 SCAD-Savannah (Ga.) knocked off No. 2 Keiser (Fla.) 13-11, while No. 6 Benedictine (Kan.) took down No. 3 Cumberlands (Ky.) 14-11. In addition to that the top seed Lawrence Tech (Mich.) posted a 12-9 win over No. 8 Siena Heights, while No. 4 Reinhardt (Ga.) took down No. 5 Life (Ga.) 15-14.

No. 1 Lawrence Tech (Mich.) def. No. 8 Siena Heights (Mich.) 12-9 (Box Score)
- Siena Heights came out strong with a pair of goals in the first two minutes to take a 2-0 lead.
- Lawrence Tech evened the score midway through the opening quarter before the Saints’ Hannah Merrick tallied an assist and a goal to give Siena Heights a 4-2 lead after the opening period.
- The Blue Devils went on a 6-2 run in the second quarter to take an 8-6 lead at the break. Alaina Smythe netted two goals on the run, including one at the 12:24 mark to give Lawrence Tech their first lead of the game.
- Bella Burke and Abbey Smetowski extended Lawrence Tech to 10-6 with 7:58 remaining in the third quarter.
- Siena Heights added a man-down goal in the closing seconds of the quarter, while Catherine Androwski netted a goal four minutes into the fourth period to cut the deficit to 10-8.
- Lawrence Tech added two of the next three goals for the 12-9 final.
- Smentowksi led all scorers with four goals and six points, while four others with two goals apiece. Anabelle Acluche made seven saves for Lawrence Tech
- The Saints were led by Merrick, who finished with three goals and two assists, while Madison Spell netted a hat trick. Emily Durr made 13 stops and scooped five ground balls.
- Lawrence Tech advances to face the winner of #4 Reinhardt and #5 Life at 4 p.m. EST Thursday.
No. 4 Reinhardt (Ga.) def. No. 5 Life (Ga.) 15-14 (Box Score)
- The two teams traded goals in the first two minutes of play before Jillian Mello give Reinhardt a 2-1 advantage with 12:16 remaining.
- Maria Arvizu dished out a pair of assists as Life netted three straight goals to take a 4-2 lead.
- Reinhardt responded with a three-goal run of their own, including two in the final minute, to take a 5-4 advantage after the opening period.
- Life opened the second half with Angie Forbes scoring twice as part of three unanswered goals to take a 7-5 edge with 7:32 remaining.
- Reinhardt even the game five minutes later as Morgan McGhee added an assist and a goal to give the Eagles a 9-7 lead at the half.
- The Eagles extended their lead to 10-7, however, Life scored the next five goals to even the game at 11-11 with 6:14 remaining in the third quarter.
- The teams traded goals before Anna-Marie Gazzo found Kelsey Sowa for a goal to give Reinhardt a 13-12 edge.
- The game was tied two more times before Gazzo connected with Mello for the game-winning goal with 2:13 remaining for the 15-14 win.
- Mello tallied five goals and seven points, while McGhee added seven points and five ground balls. Jessie Landers made eight saves between the pipes.
- For Life, Arvizu tallied seven points, while Forbes and Sutton each netted a hat trick. Leanne Windon made three caused turnovers as Arvizu scooped ten draw controls.

No. 6 Benedictine (Kan.) def. No. 3 Cumberlands (Ky.) 14-11 (Box Score)
- In a game that saw three lead changes and six ties, it was No. 6 Benedictine that netted the final three goals of the game to knock off #3 Cumberlands and advance to the semifinals.
- The two teams traded goals to open the game before Aidan McEnerney netted consecutive goals as part of a three-goal run to give the Ravens a 4-1 advantage.
- Benedictine added two goals in the closing minute of the first quarter to take a 6-2 advantage.
- Cumberlands had four different goal scorers combine for five goals in the second quarter, including two from Carolina Johnson, to take a 7-6 lead into halftime.
- After McEnerney evened the score, the Patriots retook the lead at 9-7 five minutes into the third quarter. The Ravens responded with three unanswered goals to take a 10-9 edge into the fourth quarter.
- Morgan Tate and Reegan Hensley combined for two of the first three goals in the fourth quarter to tie the game 11-11 with 8:59 left.
- The score remained that way until the 2:53 mark as Natalie Wechter scored the first of three straight goals for the 14-11 final.
- McEnerney led the way with four goals and an assist, while Wechter added five goals and 11 draw controls in the win. Gianna Stalletti made seven saves in goal.
- Cumberlands was led by Hensley, who finished with a hattrick, while three others added a pair of goals. Olivia McCarrell made eight saves and scooped five ground balls.
- Benedictine will face the winner of #2 Keiser and #7 SCAD in the semifinals on Thursday.
No. 7 SCAD Savannah (Ga.) def. No. 2 Keiser (Fla.) 13-11 (Box Score)
- SCAD Savannah added a pair of goals in the final minute of regulation to knock off the second-seed Keiser 13-11.
- Melanie Brown netted a goal just over a minute into the game to put Keiser ahead 1-0.
- SCAD Savannah responded with three of the next four goals, including a goal and an assist from Clarke Haas to take a 3-2 lead midway through the opening quarter.
- The two teams traded goals twice over the final eight minutes of the period to give SCAD a 5-4 lead after the opening period.
- Both defenses opened the second quarter strong, however, Keiser netted two of the next three goals to even the score at 6-6 with 4:17 remaining.
- Each team scored a goal late in the half to make it 7-7 at the break.
- Melanie Brown put the Seahawks in front 8-7 with an unassisted goal just over a minute into the third period.
- Grace Boyer sparked a four-goal run by the Bees to take an 11-8 advantage with 8:41 remaining in the third quarter. Keiser added a goal at the 3:59 mark, however, SCAD took an 11-9 lead into the fourth quarter.
- Keiser evened the score on a Talia Myers goal at the 2:06 mark, however, Keagan Plume put the Bees back in front with the game-winning goal with 38 seconds left.
- Julia Luff netted four goals, while three other Bees finished with two goals apiece. Tracy Richards made five saves in the win.
- Melanie Brown led the way for Keiser with four goals, while Valeria Lomaglio and Meyers each added a pair.
- SCAD advances to the semifinals against #6 Benedictine, Thursday at 7 p.m. EST.
