Field Cut on Day Two of NAIA Women’s Golf National Championship

SILVIS, Ill. – [Championship Schedule] With the team field moving from 30 to 17 and the individuals being cut from 153 to 40 including ties, the NAIA Women’s Golf National Championship set the stage for the final two rounds following the completion of Wednesday’s second round at TPC Deere Run.

There was a flip at the top of the team standings as Keiser (Fla.) jumped ahead of University of British Columbia for the Seahawks to lead the Thunderbirds by one stroke at 604 (+36) for the tournament after a 307 (+23) on Wednesday.

Another one of the big movers of the day was Milligan (Tenn.) as they jumped up six spots in the team standings to sixth place after a round low 302 (+18) after their first round 315 (+31) saw the Buffs place in 12th.

The individual low also came from a member of the Milligan lineup as Kate Castle shot a 71 (E) to jump herself up the individual leaderboard 25 spots into a tie for fourth at 148 (+6), three strokes behind the leaders. Castle now leads the tournament in birdies as she carded three birdies on Wednesday following four on Tuesday to have seven after two rounds.

Those leaders are one that held a share of the lead after the first round in Hannah Ulibarri from The Master’s (Calif.) as she matched her first round 71 with a second round 74 (+3) to currently sit at 145 (+3) with Sydney Hermann of Dalton State (Ga.) who shot one stroke better in round two as she did in the first round with a 72 (+1) on Wednesday.
