Leaders Create Separation on Day Three of NAIA Women’s Golf National Championship

SILVIS, Ill. –  [Championship Schedule] On a day, normally referred to as “moving day” in four-round golf tournaments, both the team and individual leader at the end of the third round of the NAIA Women’s Golf National Championship provided separation from those in second place on Thursday.

After losing their first-round lead to Keiser (Fla.), University of British Columbia went out and shot the best round of any team by nine strokes with a third round 298 (+14) to lead the tournament by 15 strokes heading into the final round.

The Thunderbirds have been led by a trio of individuals who all place in the top 10 heading into the final round with Una Chou at 224 (+11) for the tournament after a third round 75 (+4) as Sonja Tang is in ninth place after a 74 (+3) on Thursday, and Grace Bell tied for the second-best round of the day with a 72 (+1) to sit in 10th place individually.

Sharing a tie for the lead after both the first and second rounds, Hannah Ulibarri from The Master’s (Calif.) was able to play well enough in the third round to sit atop the leaderboard alone at 219 (+6) after her second-straight round of 74 (+3).

Ulibarri leads both Hoi Ki Lau of Keiser (Fla.) and MaKayla Tyrrell of Oklahoma City University as Lau shot the best round of the day with the first under par round of the tournament at 70 (-1) while Tyrrell shot 76 (+5) to stay towards the top of the leaderboard as she had been for the first two rounds.
