2023-24 NAIA Women's Basketball Player of the Week - No. 4 (January 9)

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Melissa Akullu of Vanguard (Calif.) has been named the NAIA Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. Akulliu was selected based on their performance from January 1-7 and was chosen out of a pool of conference/Continental Athletic Conference (Independents)/unaffiliated group nominees.

Players of the week are announced weekly throughout the regular season on Tuesdays on naia.org, Instagram and Twitter.

NAIA Women's Basketball Player of the Week 

Melissa Akullu, Vanguard (Calif.) – SR – Center

  • Recorded a double 20 with 26 points and 21 rebounds against Hope International (Calif.).
  • Followed that performance with a double-double with 30 points and 17 rebounds against The Master's (Calif.).
  • The senior was 59.1 percent from the field on the week. 
  • Combined for one assist, one block and five steals in both contests last week.
