2022 NAIA Softball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll Three (April 6, 2022)

Softball - Oklahoma City University

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – With six, first-place votes, Oklahoma City rose to the top spot in the latest edition of the Top 25. The Stars narrowly edged Oregon Tech by a single point to take the top spot. Mobile (Ala.) garnered eight, first-place votes this week and landed at No. 3 thanks in large part to a spotless 32-0 record. The Rams also made the biggest jump of the week, up three spots from the second edition two weeks prior. Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) and Science & Arts (Okla.) rounded-out the top five.

Poll Methodology

  • The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and the Continental Athletic Conference (Independents).
  • The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 30 points for each first-place vote, 29 for second-place and so on through the list.
  • The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low rating) is removed and the team’s ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appear on.
  • Teams that receive only one point on the ballot are not considered “receiving votes”
  • The frequency of the polls is bi-weekly. This policy was approved by the National Administrative Council (NAC) prior to the 2016-17 academic season. This change allows raters the opportunity to consider a larger body of work between rating periods.
