2024 NAIA Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week – No. 8 (May 1)

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Payton Mauldin of Dordt (Iowa) has been selected as the NAIA Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week and Ayobami Arokoyo from Saint Xavier (Ill.) has been selected as the NAIA Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week. The duo was selected based on their performances from April 22 - 28 and were selected out of a pool of nominees from across the country.

Players of the week are announced weekly throughout the regular season on Wednesdays on naia.org, Instagram and Twitter.

NAIA Men’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week

Payton Mauldin, Dordt (Iowa) - SR

  • Won a pair of championships at the Drake Relays
  • Claimed the title in the 400m with a personal-best and school record time of 46.49, which is also the No.1 time in the NAIA
  • Anchored the Defenders to the 4x400 relay championship with a school record and No.1 time in the NAIA 
  • The Defenders 4x400 relay time ranks 11th all-time in NAIA history.

 

NAIA Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week  

Ayobami Arokoyo, Saint Xavier (Ill.) - JR

  • Improved his NAIA top mark in the Discus with a distance of 57.45m
  • That toss broke his program record in the event at the Drake Relays
  • Finished in first a day later at the ONU Invite while also hitting the NAIA 'A' Standard
